Langtang Gosainkunda Trek April,2009
I have been a regular visitor to Nepal for the last ten years and have completed a number of treks, among them Mt.Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Lakes, the Annapurna Circuit and Poon Hill, to name a few.
All were filled with new experiences, adventure and challenges.
I hired various Porters and Guides for those treks.
But nothing comes close to the fantastic support and organisation of the Above Himalaya Trekking Company, led by Puru Timilsina, and his cheerful team!
I have trekked the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea, and the Inca Trail in Peru so the bar was high for Puru and his team to reach, which they did, smoothly and with great professionalism.
When I chose Puru and his team at the Above Himalaya Trekking Company to organize my Langtang/Helambu Trek in March/April this year, it was the wisest of all choices!.
From the first contact by e-mail to the last goodbye and final detail, Puru and his team demonstrated what a truly dedicated and excellent organisation they are.
Puru cheerfully adjusted my trek details and the date for departure, not once, but twice! My Guide, Phurba and I met in Puru's office the evening before my trek began.
Phurba raced to the office to meet me at very short notice, and I felt very comfortable with both him and Puru.
I had no hesitation in asking any question. They were forthright and frank about any concerns I had, and both gave me answers without any hesitation, thus confirming their skill and comprehension of English.
Because I am a older female, and would be trekking alone, Puru based his choice of Guide on this information.
I am happy to say, his decision in electing Phurba to travel with me was excellent.
Every moment of my trek was a fun and challenging experience, just how I like it.
AND! Phurba delivered my morning coffee to me just as I like it every single day too!
I felt safe, secure and most importantly, understood by Phurba, not just the language, my Guide understood me and my needs.
This was very important for me. I never felt pressured to walk faster if I didn't feel like it, the accomodation was always with a view to my degree of physical condition at the end of each day.
Sometimes ground floor, sometime two flights of stairs!
Phurba's cheerful nature, happy smile and dedication to delivering only the best service was without falter. His knowledge of the Langtang & Helambu area is comprehensive and he was sure to point out many new and intriguing things to me along the way. His help through deep snow over the Laurabina Pass was also greatly appreciated!
The food, accomodation and distances we trekked each day were all totally in sync with daily my requirments, I think Phurba is a mindreader!
My whole trek was an experience I will always remember as 'My best trek yet'.
The final detail was that Phurba came to the airport to present me with the creamy silk scarf, called a Karta, to ensure my safe and happy travels as I departed Nepal.
I will definately be e-mailing Puru when I am ready to do my next trek, and have no reservations in recommending their service to all people of all ages and status.
Lone females can feel secure and safe in contacting Puru to organize their trek or travels.

 Ghorepani Poonhill Trek - March 2009
Trekked from 06 March to 12 March 2009. Did the poonhill trek. Our guide Bhola and permod was great. Puru arranged everything and was very flexible with itenery and did an awesome work in arranging everything from the hotel to guide if I came back I will definitely make all my traveling arrangement with Mr. puru and Above The Himalaya trekking (p) ltd.

Everest Base Camp Chola pass with Gokyo lake trek December 2008:
In december 2008 I have done a trekking in Nepal (Lukla - Kalapattar - Chola Pass - Gokyo).
Being a single female traveller I have been very careful in selecting a porterguide to acompany me during this trek. I booked Purna Karki through Above the Himalaya Trekking and I couldn´t have made a better choice.
Purna is a very kind, respectful and honest person who speaks and understands good english. During the trek he took care of everything necessary and was a true addition to the experience. Being from the area he gave me lots of information and knew so many people along the route. I found it much easier to get in touch with the local people with Purna by my side, and there hasn´t been a moment that I didn´t feel safe. Besides that, Purna has a very pleasant personality and is very funny to be around. I could truly recommend Purna to any single female traveller, but also to groups. All guesthouse owners, and other trekkers and porters/guides we met along the way enjoyed his company.
I planned my personalised trek together with Puru in the office in Thamel. Puru Timalsena arranged everything with great care and with an eye for detail. I think the company is professional and offers fair prices. Puru supplied my guide with a medical kit and insurance, and Purna had very good equipment (shoes, clothes, crampons etc.).
Thank you Puru and his team, my trek in Nepal has been a wonderful, memorable experience.

Langtang Valley Trekking November 2008
 'Langtang was our first ever trek so we were all slightly apprehensive but Puru and Purna looked after us from the start. Purna was great company as well as a great guide. He managed everything for us and we didn't have to worry about a thing... Langtang was amazing- a beautiful place. We would definitely recommend it and would highly recommend Above the Himalaya Trekking'

Annapurna Circuit Trekking September 16, 2007
 From the beginning, Puru was there to help give advice+ plan the trip. He was prompt to reply to emails and provided great advice. He had the ability to match me with a guide that fit my needs. I believe he put time in to considering who I could be spending time with, this was greatly appreciated. He was fantastic at booking my domestic + International flights. He was always happy to help. My guide Jimmy was very informative, patient + helpful. He was knowledgeable regarding the mountains, people, religion,. Language, culture +food. He was a fabulous friend + cook, he was always putting my health + needs first he made me fed like a part of Nepali Family. The expenses with Puru + a guide Jimmy were priceless. As a Solo female travel, Jimmy and Puru’s Company was greatly appreciated.

 Kathmandu Valley Trek - August 2007
The Trip was very good! It was very good organized the first day was little difficult walking but our guide was really great and take special for us many rust stops. The food and the two hotels were good, the second Hotel food was better! The view was wonderful on the way and we have seen a lot, special the mountain villages were super!!

Annapurna Base Camp Trek -2007
“  So many travel companies, such little time to decide who the best is, and who will offer the most exclusively perfect experience. Well, I went to Kathmandu and spent a few days checking them all out and this company is where its all happening! Puru and his team have based all their trips on a wealth of experience having been there, and done it all! They have trekked all over Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan and India so they know what’s out there and exactly where to go. All I had to do was explain what I wanted and “Bingo”- right before me appeared the perfect itinerary of everything I’d dreamed of seeing in the Himalayas. There was nothing to worry about- Puru organized everything…the food, the sleeping bag- even a donkey when my weary feet got too tired to handle the hills! Only one thing beat Puru’s passion for the area- and that was the awe inspiring scenery out there. Nothing can prepare you for the magnificent views and vistas that exist in this part of the world and my camera told a thousand beautiful shots. I will definitely be back to these parts and of course I will contact Puru again- he gets me moving where I want to go, I just relax and enjoy the ride of a lifetime.”

My name is Ali and I come from England. I recently did a 2 week trek to Anapurna Base Camp with Puru. Puru was a fantastic guide, always helpful and eager to please. His english is very good so communication was never a problem. The whole trip was very well planned, we new exactly what we were going to be doing at all stages of the trip. Having a guide really enhanced the whole experiance as Puru is full knowledge about the country, the mountains and the people. He knows all the best lodges and sorted all the accommodation out for us, he also plays very good cards!
I had the time of my life whilst doing the trek, and I dont think it would have been half the experiance if I hadn't of had Puru there to guide me. Thanks for everything Puru, you're a legend!'

 Hello there. I Karen, from New Zealand and I have just completed The Annapurna Circuit with Puru as my Guide. There were three of us on the trip and we also had the strongest porter in Nepal, Hari.
Puru is a great guide being very knowledgeable about the history, culture, geography, politics and the people of Nepal. His English is excellent and he is very friendly and inspiring. Before the trek we had all the details provided in writing and they were discussed with us well so we all knew exactly what we were doing. Each evening, while trekking, we were told what to expect the next day in regards to terrain, time, weather, what to wear and carry etc. Puru was never wrong!
All our meals and accommodation were looked after by Puru. He was very attentive, making sure we got our coffees and teas as we liked them and at the times we wanted them. He knew the best places to stay and is obviously liked and respected all along the trekking routes. We had the royal treatment all the way. Actually, many other trekkers told us that we had the best guide. He was always very careful with our safety and looked after our health as we got into the higher altitudes.
The political situation did not affect us while we were trekking. There were some checkpoints to pass through but the soldiers and police were friendly and Puru handled all the formalities easily. We ended up walking the last 2 days out to Pokhara because the buses are not allowed to run, but it meant we got to see some more of the real Nepal. Puru has many contacts so he always seems to know what is happening and what is best for us to do.
If you are looking for a good Guide, choose Puru. I am confident you will be very pleased with him

Gokyo – Gokyo Ri-Cho-la Pass Trek Oct 12 to Oct 27 2007
A dream come true and the experience of a lifetime. I think that’s what best describes my trek with the most knowledgeable guide Shyam! Whether it was getting flight ticket organized from Ktm to Lukla or walking sure that I never got sick because of a altitude or food and water .I was getting a best room available and just joining me in the awe and joy of trekking in the light mountains of Nepal . As long as I could walk everyday Shyam look care of everything else! I am already planning and looking forward to my next trip to Nepal and will most certainly use Puru’s expertise and organization and hopefully Shyam’s guiding experience again. If you come as a snauger and client and leave having made friend, then this is the Company to go with

Everest Base Camp Trekking June 2007
I had a great trek to Everest Base Camp. With good weather, beautiful views and a nice hike. I met up with my guide in Lukla what turned out really good.
At first I was a bit cautious but the company arranged everything really good. An experience never to forget.
Although I haven’t done an other trekking, I would really recommend the Everest trek, amazing all the high peaks you can see from Kalapatthar. Standing on 5500m with this 8 km tops surrounding make you feel very small. And walking to Base Camp is really special!!! The place was it ends for us, but begins the real guys.
In short, an experience for life.

Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trekking March 2007
Nima Sherpa is an excellent Porter. I would say he is probably the best In Nepal. He is hard working, caring, and generous; He is also a very keen walker He genuinely loves being in the mountains and exploring new places. I walked With him for one month from Jiri to Everest Base Camp and then back. On the way back to Jiri I also visited his family. They live in remote Sherpa village under very poor conditions. It was very authentic experience.

Nagarkot- Dhulikhel Trekking 2005
Today is my birthday and I am Trekking/walking with Puru. Yesterday was the begining of hte trip and that was very hard.Puru put some of my things in his bag so that it was more easy for me to walk.He said that it was no problem to walk easily and the next morning he pick up my pass form the day before. He was thinking very good fo me and also what I want.I did the same with all of my things to carry again. very nice of him Hw also wanted me to have a good hotel and restaurant. next time I will again travel with puru. he is a really a good guide!
