I have chosen Above the Himalaya because of all the good reviews ...and we were not disappointed. Puru was so helpful in putting our itneriy together and every e-mail was answered promptly and I wrote a lot of e-mails,changed dates and the length of our stay,nothing was too much or too hard. We had a full on iternery and everything worked out perfectly. Our guide and porter really looked after us and we stayed in great tea houses, yes they are basic but have their charm and some of the views were just amazing. We were really scared of flying in Nepal and chose to have a private car from Pokhara to Chitwan and from Chitwan back to Kathmandu....well the roads are scary and the trucks and buses are just flying around the corners but our driver , organised by Puru, was the best, never overtook unless it was really safe. Back in Kathmandu Puru had organised a sightseeing tour and our guide was very knowledgable . We enjoyed our trip so much that we are keen to take our kids back to Nepal and we know that Puru would be the best person to organise the trip for us

Everest High Passes Trekking

My party attempted the 3-pass trek in 17 days this October. After much shopping around we ended up choosing Above the Himalaya because of online reviews and consistent thorough contact with Puru. We couldn't be happier with our end result. Our guide Phurba was the best, absolutely worth requesting. He was knowledgeable, driven, met the needs of a diverse group of people, and was incredibly warm and kind and open throughout our trek. Our porters were outstanding. The teahouses were well-chosen - comfortable always and sometimes nicer than our hotel in Kathmandu. In the end when it snowed on one of our pass days, we ended up shifting the remainder of the trek and Phurba was incredibly flexible and jovial about the change in plans. I would go on another trek with this company, with this guide, in a second. Maybe Annapurna...

Puru arranged a 2 week itinerary for us, including a trek. The entire experience was positive. He responded quickly to every email, often on a daily basis, until we had the itinerary we wanted. His advice on where to stay and how to travel proved to be spot on. Once in Nepal, all our arrangements (quite fiddly) worked flawlessly, a considerable achievement in this country. Puru organised my trek in April this year. He provided a professional device, good advice, and was able to tailor the trip to the dates required. As a lone female traveller planning a first time trip to Nepal Puru provided a great service. The late addition of a friend joining me was no problem for Puru.

Our guide during the trek, Puspa, was wonderful. He let us set the pace, told us about what we were seeing, and was helpful and friendly the entire way.

As a solo female traveler, it was critical for me to find safe, reputable and experienced trekking company in Nepal. Above the Himalaya Trekking Ltd. has exceeded my expectations! Gokki, my trekking guide was fun, reliable and creative during our trek up to Gokyo Ri, crossing Cho La Pass up to Kala Pathar and down to Chukung where I met my climbing guide and porters which were excellent as well. Our cook prepared amazing food in the base camp of the Island Peak so all I had to do was - to summit!

Excellent service, everything was well organized, fun and professional!

My recommendation is: DO NOT WASTE TIME SEARCHING AROUND FOR A LOCAL TREKKING COMPANY, BUT RATHER SPEND MORE TIME ABOVE THE HIMALAYA!!!

Everest Gokyo Lake trekking with Chitwan Jungle Safari

We visited Nepal in October and Puru and his team arranged our entire 3 week programme which included sightseeing, trekking and a trip to the Chtiwan National Park. Puru always responded promptly to our enquiries however minor. Our trekking experience was excellent (but be aware faciliteis can be basic at times) and our sight seeing guide in Kathmandu ensured that we were well educated by the end of our very busy day. Puru arranged hotels, flights, guides and transfers and I would highly recommend his team to anyone considering a trip to Nepal - especially if you wish to avoid being part of some of the large trekking groups which we encountered on our trip - small groups is the way to go! As a bit of a control freak the lack of a blow by blow itinerary prior to departure was a bit disconcerting however eveything worked out well and you just need to learn to go with the flow!

Where to start... What an amazing place! You can not fail to have your breath taken away on this trek. Our experience was even better, given that before we even got on our flight out, we had the assurance that everything was being taken care of for us. All our internal flights, permits, hotels, trekking guide, tours, everything! We can't compliment the team at 'Above The Himalayas' enough. 

On our trek our guide was called Shyam and he was nothing short of brilliant. He first of all managed to negotiate us through the chaos of Kathmandu airport and made sure we got our flight. No mean feat! from there on in he looked after us as if we were his own family. Nothing was too much trouble and took time answer all our questions. His wealth of knowledge and experience was nothing short of extraordinary. We are deeply indebted to him for make our trek so much more interesting and enjoyable.

Annapurna Ghadruk Loop Trekking

My first trek...will definitely do another. We did the Pokara to Ghandruk and back trail. Puru and team were very professional in organising the trek. There were no hassles. Our guide Purna was very good and made the trip enjoyable.

The tea houses and the local people very friendly. The views spectacular.

I suggest people undertake a few months worth of preparation before going on a trek, especially if you have a desk job for a living. It will make the trip a lot more enjoyable.

I would definitely use these guys again.

Helalmbu Circuit Trekking

Booked with Puru and Above the Himalaya trekking following the good reviews in the internet.. Excellent and informative initial contact with Puru and really good options given to us as first time visitors to Nepal and first time trekkers. Puru recommended the Helambu circuit for an 8-9 day trek, a less travelled trail, close to Kathmandu. This met our requirement for close contact with the locals in the mountains and a real cultural experience. Excellent pre-trek advice (although we took too much gear!), pick up from the airport and efficient transit to Yak and Yeti hotel. Puru took us out for a cultural dinner (lovely touch) and gave us a final opportunity to ask questions about the trek. We also had an English speaking guide plus driver for a day out in Kathmandu, which was excellent. We covered all the main sights and the guide was very knowledgable. Really enjoyable trek - recommend Helambu if you want to experience the 'real Nepal' rather than a commercial trek packed with tourists. However, the facilities are extremely basic as a result (we were warned about this and had no problem with it, but just be aware) and the views perhaps not as spectacular as other parts of the Himalaya (but the company caters for all options and areas). Our guide and porter looked after us as if we were family. At every lodge they made sure we had everything we needed. We were always invited to eat in the kitchen, where many of the other tourists were eating in the dining area, and this allowed us a proper insight into mountain life, which was just what we were after. The itinerary was just right, with a good balance of walking time, a rest for lunch, and time to relax in the evenings. Really nice feel to this company - Puru is very reliable, efficient and professional and we would travel with them again.

Through talking to the other trekkers on my way up, I realised that my package is one of the better one, Puru is very commited to make sure we're happy with the trip, he let you interview and change the guide (I heard with the other agents, you'll need to pay extra if you want to change guide) and readily compensate for the part that you're less satisfied with, I'm impressed with the service provided by him.

Above the Himalaya trekking provided an all-encompassing experience that satisfied my needs while traveling in the Nepal and hiking through the Himalayas. Myself, along with my father and two others, took the Everest Base Camp trek, which led us from Lukla to EBC and back again in a 12 day trek.

Puru, the owner, runs a tight ship, and is incredibly willing to help out as much as he can. His knowledge of the area was immense, and he was respected among others. Our guide, Ramesh, was friendly and had a good sense of humor (not to mention a mastery of English and Nepalese). He provided every service to us along the way.

The hike was beautiful and the experience was one of a kind. I would recommend anyone planning to trek in the Himalayas to use Above the Himalaya.

This was a great experience for my group of four from the US. Puru Timalsena and his company, Above the Himalaya, was GREAT. The trekking guide, Ramesh, was the best part of the trip. We had good accommodations and food along the trip. I loved being in the Himalayas. The worst part of the trip was Kathmandu were we started and ended our trip. Nepal Cultural Tour

We are not trekkers and were looking for a private cultural tour of Nepal. Mr. Puru, the owner of the company, devised an itinerary for a two week tour of Nepal. The price included transfers, hotels, breakfast, car and driver, and sightseeing tours with a local guide in each location. The price was less than one would pay for a group tour. I would recommend his company to trekkers and non-trekkers alike. He was personally available to us for questions and to make sure we were satisfied.

The personal service and the quality of the guides and the driver were even better than we expected. Our driver was a very careful driver -- a rarity in Nepal. He did not frighten us with his driving. If you have been on the highways in India and Nepal, you know how important this is. The guides, since it was a private tour, adjusted what we saw to our interests and our stamina.

We spent time in Kathmandu, Chitwan National Park, Bandipur, and Pokhara. We saw a lot of animals, many fantastic old temples, and a couple of cultural dance shows. When we arrived, Mr Puru suggested that we make one change and fly back from Pokhara to Kathmandu. It was a great suggestion-- listen to his suggestions.

Puru and his team were simply great to work with. Unfortunately, we didn't have time for a trek, but he was able to create a wonderful Kathmandu and Pokhara itinerary for us on a budget. We really didn't have a clue about what to see in Nepal... and we saw so much in a short time.

Once we arrived in Kathmandu, all details seemed to be taken care of, including hotel, flight and tour bookings. And when we had tweaks to our schedule, Puru was extremely flexible.

Very nice trip 5 days seems tough but when you take your time its more than enough we did it in 4 days. We went in February and had snow lovely view and good basic guest houses. Our guide Dhurba and porter Sitarram were very nice, give

Hill top guesthouse is awesome at Ghorepani Enjoy your time. Price seems a little higher than competition but the big
share, goes to extra insurance for guide and porters some often companies don't do this, an other share goes to orphans house and school for children and library

Langtang Helambu Documentary Expedition

I was about to embark on my latest documentary expedition in Nepal when the NGO I had been working with suddenly informed me that they would not be able to provide any of the assistance they had promised. This notice came 3 days before my flight.
I had already invested so much money and time in to this trip , but now it was missing a guide and translator.

Everest View Trekking

We chose the Everest Viewing Trek as it was a 8 day trek and I was limited for Time. Puru organized everything and was very helpful in answering any questions we had about the Trek and answered my emails promptly. When we met Puru in Kathmandu he explained all the details about the trek in detail and we had a lovely meal at a tradional Nepalese restaurant that he organised . Our group consisted of 3 and were very well looked after by our guide Ramesh and our porter Babboo. Ramesh organised everything that we needed and walked with us at our pace which was not very fast. I would recommend Above the Himalaya Trek to everyone as Puru is very professional and the Trek guides are Fantastic.
The weather was cold in the morning but we got sunburnt during the Day. The trek was just the right distance and the sight of Everest at Tengboche was outstanding

Mustang Trekking

This was my first time to Nepal (10/2010) and trekking the upper Mustang area to LoManthang. Puru sent someone to pick my friend and I up from the airport and took us to dinner that night. He took care of all of the details and permits and had us stay at a wonderful clean hotel called the Samsara. One of the best parts of our trip was our guide by the name of Shyam. Shyam was a caring individual who took the time to see to all of our needs on the trail and knows much about the area after 15 years as a guide. Annapurna Base Camp Trekking

Our 13 days trekking was magnificent, our guide Ramesh and porter Baburam were extremely helpful and very friendly. Ramesh always made sure we were comfortable and walking at a good pace.

For us he had great recommendations of what to order fro meal and made sure we were satisfied, Ramesh spoke English well and know the area we trekker every step of the way.

When I was a little afraid of a trails he held my hand When I was sick he carried my bag, When I was weak he fed me mars bars! Everest Base Camp + Annapurna Circuit Trekking Sept/ Oct

Today me and my friends went to Everest Base Camp and around the Annapurna Circuit trekking with our guide Purna. We had a great time and got lots of help getting up and down in the mountains. We had a few altitude problems which we get lots of help with Purna answer all our question and let us order breakfast from our bed, The porters were ever cheerful carrying all our gear and keep to have us dancing each night

Everest Gokyo Lake Chola Pass Trekking Sept/Oct

After many hours of researching trekking company’s via the internet. I decided on Above The Himalaya Trekking. I had seen some good reviews from other travelers but was most impressed by the good words spoken by solo female travelers. Being a solo female myself my safety and comfort were of great concern. I must say from beginning to end Above The Himalaya Trekking have been wonderful. They were waiting at the airport when I arrived, stayed in lovely hotels in Kathmandu and guest houses along the way on my trek. My guide for my trekking was also fantastic! I always felt safe and well looked after overall.

I highly recommend Above the Himalaya Trekking for anyone looking for a very memorable, excellent adventure holiday

We did the ABC trek with poonhill just two weeks ago...we had a lot of rain and cloudy skies, but at the top of ABC, we were lucky and saw everything for a few hours...Mr. Dipak our guide was very kind and professional, Puru was also very professional and organized everything and gave all the support needed.

I will definitely be back to Nepal in the future!

I am extremely happy with the service provided by Above the Himalayas so far. Bhala was fantastic and was a super guide. We ended up not doing the base camp because of the weather, but we had one super clear day at point hill that made me very happy! Again, he made my trek wonderful.
The hotel in Pokhara is also very nice, just like Kathmandu . I was able to paraglide today, which was great.

Upper Mustang Tiji Festival Trekking

My 10 year old son and I were in the care of Above the Himalaya Trekking for the entire month of May 2010. We had been working with Puru for months prior to our arrival in Nepal.

All communication was of the upmost professionalism, clear, prompt, and warm.
Puru has a wonderful staff and all we met made sure our trip was running well and would be memorable. I should say also that when we arrived the country was under a Maoist strike and as such one would think all kinds of new difficulties would be present. If they were Puru did his best as we really did not experience any negative experience.

I am also grateful for getting to know this energenic business owner. Puru is giving back to his community and country. I am very glad to be doing business with such a conscientious person. All the best to his company and I would highly recommend to anyone the services they can provide.
