Kathmandu to Lhasa tour with Everest Base camp is 10 days overland tour in Tibet, the special highlights and proposes of the tour is visit to the Everest Base Camp where you will be rewarded with panoramic and breath-taking views of Mount Everest from the north side.

 

The first day of tour begins with a 123 Km of driver from Kathmandu to Zhangmu or a 156 Km drive from Kathmandu to Nyalam through stunningly beautiful country sides of Nepal in to the Old hina through the Friendship Bridge. Second day passes with excitement as you will drive uphill to the high Tibetan plateaus where you will get to see the true Tibetan landscape. From the high plateaus you can observe and photograph high mountains like Mt. Cho Oyu & Mt. Xishapagma. after we will take an exhilarating drive to Ronbuk - 5000 m and a mere 7km below Everest Base Camp. The view from here is utterly spectacular! Rombuk is certainly the highest monastery in the world which was first built in 1902 by the Nyingma Lama and originally housed more than 500 monks. Today, only about 50 monks and nuns remain, sharing the same prayer hall but with separate residences. The nuns here are great fun and will be delighted to have you join their evening prayers. The energetic can make the 7km hike to Base Camp for a closer view of this magnificent mountain and or You can Rent a horse cart. after tour heads to Xigatse passes in a scenic drive crossing over Gyatchu La Mountain. On this road you will find a route to the Mt. Kaikash. You will have to wait for the morning sightseeing and Panchen Lama’s Tashilhumpu monastery visit after which you will drive to the Panchen Lama’s Tashilhumpu monastery and come back to your hotel to stay overnight.  On the fifth day you will drive full day crossing over Karola, Kambala, and colorful Yamdrok Lake and the Tibetan lifeline river Bramha Putra to the holy city of Lhasa. Lhasa deserves two full days of your attention and visit. Here you will visit Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Potala Palace, Drepung & Sera Monasteries. Don’t forget to buy something for your people back home in the Lhasa streets. The 8th and the final day of your tour take you to the airport for your departure flight back to Kathmandu or other destination as you have planned.

Kathmandu to Lhasa Tour via Everest Base Camp Itinerary Details

Day 01:Kathmandu (1320m) – Zhangmu (2,500m) Nyalam (3,700m): 123km / 156km
Leave Kathmandu early in the morning to cover the123km to reach the Nepal-: Tibet Border. After completing the immigration formalities at the border, we drive towards Nyalam. Moving up a series of incredibly steep switchbacks, which passes through a mossy gully with cascading waterfalls, we reach Nyalam. Overnight at Guest House.
Day 02: Zhangmu / Nyalam  to Lo Tingri/old Tingri (4050m) -179/ 147 Kms.

Drive (Approx. 5-6 hours) to Tingri crossing two spectacular passes. Nyalam pass (3800m) and Lalung La pass (5082m). This drive provides fabulous view of the high mountains including, Mount Everest (8848m) Jugal Himal, Mt. Makalu (8464m) and more. Overnight at Guest House

Day 03 Lo Tingri/old Tingri to Ronbuk (5050m ) – Aprox 90  Kms
Scenic drive to Ronbuk through the beautiful Tibetan countryside. Explore Ronbuk Monastery (highest monastery in the world) – You can then view spectacular sight of Mount Everest. You have the opportunity to explore Everest Base Camp (5150m.) The base camp itself is dry and barren, but the views of Everest more than compensates for it. It truly is an awe-inspiring place with the sheer north face of the highest mountain in the world towering above you. Overnight accommodation at a guest house.
Day 04:  Rongbuk hiking to Everest Base Camp and back to Ronbuk (4+4 km)
Today we explore around Everest Base Camp and to watch sunrise on Mt. Everest. It is a truly awe inspiring place with the absolute north face of the highest mountain in the world soaring above you. You can Rent a horse cart or walk to the Everest BC and explore around – back to Rongbuk, Overnight accommodation at a guest house
Day 05: Rongbuk   Xigatse (3,900m): 244 km
Continue scenic drive crossing over Gyatchu La (5,220m), the highest pass en route to Lhasa via Lhatse from where a read to Mt. Kailash Bifurcates to the west. Xigatse is one of the most historically significant villages in Tibet. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06: Xigatse to Gyantse – (3950m) 90kms.
In the morning visit the Tashilunpo Monastery and the free bazaar of Xigaste. Tashilumpo lies at the foot of Drolmari, or Tara's Mountain, on the western side of Shigatse. It is one of Tibet's most influential monasteries, founded in 1477 by Gendun Drubpa, the first Dalai Lama. Inside the monastery, the Maitreya Chapel is the tallest building and houses the world’s largest brass statue of Buddha at 26.2 meters (86 feet) high, seated on a 3.8 meter (12 foot) high lotus throne made of gold, brass and precious gems, After lunch embark on a pleasant 2 hours drive to Gyantse with its amazing sites Khumbum, Palkor Chode Monastery and Gyantse Dzong, Overnight at hotel.
Day 07: Gyantse to Lhasa - (3650m) 216 kms.
The full day picturesque drive crossing the 2 passes The Karo La (5010m) and Kamba La (4794m) pass and Lake Yamdrok Tso (Turquoise Lake). You will cross the Tibetan lifeline river Bramha Putra(Yarlung Tsangpo) and see the distant views of the Potala Palace. Overnight in Lhasa
Day 08:  Lhasa Sightseeing Tour
Today we explore the heart of Tibet with taking the special tour; our tour begins with a visit to Sera Monastery, Sera, in Tibetan, means "Wild Rose Garden" since opulent wild rose woods once grew around it. The Sera monastery was completed in 1419. The Monastery is erected grandly at a mountain slope with a colorful architecture, Explore Norbulinka Palace, in Tibetan ‘beautiful gardens’ and the summer palace of the Dalai Lama. At serene Sera Monastery, enjoy watching the monks animatedly debating the Buddhist scriptures and see the wonderful collection of ancient murals and statues as well as scriptures written in gold powder, wonderful scroll paintings, tapestries and Thangka that can be seen throughout.  Visit the Jokhang Temple, a spiritual center of Tibetan people. Every day, numerous Buddhists from every corner of Tibet come to burn incense to worship here. Follow the pilgrimage circuit along the ancient streets of the old town around Barkhor Bazaar and return back to hotel for overnight.

Day 09: Another Sightseeing Day in Lhasa
Today we will explore the Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery. The 17th century Potala Palace offers an awesome view of entire city and also has private quarters of the Dalai Lama, numerous grand state rooms and chapels, you are guided thought ancient chamber of the palace and get to see Tibetan art and statues,  After visit Potala palace enjoy the solemnity of holy Dreprung Monastery one of the largest Monastery in Tibet which was built in 14th century used to shelter around 10,000 monks, where you can observe many nuns and monks changing and performing religious discourses,  but as now there has been quite a declination resulting in only few hundreds. Tibetans' respect and belief are immensely knotted with this monastery, evening free for Shopping return back to hotel for overnight.
Day 10: Final departure from Lhasa 
Early morning drive to airport for departure flight to Kathmandu or to your onward destination.

Single supplement will be provided on request it cost US$ 190 single supplement fee.
