Island Peak Climbing
Island Peak Climbing is one of the mot popular tourism activities in Nepal. The summit, situated in Khumbu region of Nepal Himalayas, is both enchanting and attractive with a highly glaciated west face rising from the Lhotse Glacier.
The peak can be seen from Dingboche as an island in the sea of ice. The ridge rising to the south from this point leads to the summit of Island Peak. Above the glacier, a steep snow headwall leads to the summit ridge, which continues, in an incredibly exposed position, to the summit.
Island Peak climbing is not only to experience the thrill of peak climbing but also to experience natural panorama. It provides an enjoyable climb as well as some of the most spectacular sceneries of Himalayas in the Khumbu region.
Island Peak Climbing, however, is more technical by nature. Presence of rock ridge and steep snow wall makes the trail more challenging.
