Helambu Circuit Trekking
With diverse range of brilliant green valleys misty rhododendron forests and distant horizons of snowy peaks. Helambu is the ideal short trek there are simple teahouses along this route. Yet the area remains relatively unspoilt by tourism. You will experience the yolmo culture of high mountains villages, marvel at vistas of lonely high mountains and watch enthralled as the farmers toil in the fields using hand made tools and teams of water buffalo. Helambu lies to the north of Kathmandu and offers the nearest experience of Sherpa culture without having to go to Everest region.The Sherpa village of Tarke Ghyang that forms the focus of Helambu is a charming enclave of farmers and yak herders. The trip starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal. Helambu provides an instant Himalayan trek for those with limited time. This trek is an easy and enjoyable trip conducted at the average altitude of 3500m. The trek takes you through Thadepati to Tarke Gyang, where a choice of trails opens up. However we go along the south ridge through Sermathang, down to the river at Melamchi, the site of a mega project to bring drinking water to Kathmandu via a series of tunnels. The trek concludes with a drive down to Kathmandu via Panchkhal, after a night's camp at Melamchi Bridge.

Helambu Trekking Itinerary
Day 1:Arrival at Kathmandu, transfer to hotel
Day 2:Sight-seeing of Kathmandu: Leave for full day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley includes the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNISCO world heritage site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath (2000 years old temple) and visit Patan city of fine arts. Back to hotel and stay.
Day 3:Sundarijal- Chisopani,
A short drive to Sundarijal. Trail climbs steeply past Tamang villages and on through rhododendron forest to Chisopani. Excellent views over the whole Himalayan range from Manaslu to Everest.
Day 4:Chisopani to Gulbhanjyang : Trail goes gently through terraced fields, tiny hamlets and stretches of grassy open hillside stay over night there.
Day 5:Gulbhanjyang to Tharepati: A steady climb through prickly leaved oak forest with excellent views of the mountains and the Helambu valley when we arrived at Tharepati Rise early for excellent close up views of Gosainkunda and surrounding high mountains.
Day 6:Tharepati- Melamchi: A short, steep descent through mixed fir and rhododendron forest rich with bird life. Crashing waterfalls sound from the rocky gullies below as you approach Melamchi
Day 7:Melamchi – Tarkegyang : The trail descends steeply to the valley floor, where you can have a well earned dip in the crystal- clear river before completing the short and mild ascent up the other side of the valley. Tarkegyang boasts an 18 th century Gompa with huge brass prayer wheel.
Day 8:Tarkegyang – Sermathang : A flat pleasant walk to Shermathang for walking. This si a an entering Sherpa villav\ge and they will be happy to introduce themselves that they are different from the Sherpa of Khumbu(Everest region) In the clear day the villages provide good views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gosainkunda and Rolwaling.. Even Everest too ina distance.
Day 9:Melamchi drive back to Kathmandu transfer to hotel
Day 10:Kathmandu free day, evening culture show and nepali dinner, hotel
Day 11:Final departure, transfer to airport
Price For The Trip:
The total cost for the trek or tour you decide you want to do will depend on several different factors. The type of accommodation you prefer in Kathmandu and/or Pokhara will make a difference to the overall cost (budget to 5 star accommodation) The mode of transport you prefer will also affect the cost of your package, for example prices vary greatly between flying versus private car/van, tourist or local buses.
