The khumbu region of Nepal is one of the best-known treks in the world. This is the land of the Sherpa People and the world’s great 8,000 meter peaks. The spectacular flight to lukla, and the start of the trek to Namche bazaar, the colorful center of Sherpa life and a meeting place for Himalayan traders and yak caravans. You start your everest experience from Lukla, the trail follows Dudh koshi river( the river of milk) you will feel dwarfed by the mountains all around, sacred stones, chorten, mani walls and prayer flags.
During your work you will have a chance encounter with Barking Deer, Musk Deer and the Himalayan Tahr or mountain goat. You will have a chance to visit one of the active monastery in Khumbu region Tengboche, Tengboche sits on a saddle at 3870m in a clearing surrounded by dwarf fires and rododendroms. Kwongde (6187m) Tawache(6542m) Everest (8848m) Nuptse (7855m) Lhotse (8618m) Amadablam (6856m) Thamserku (6608m) provide and inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants. We visit the Bhuddist Monastry at Tengboche, the largest in Khumbu region. The attraction includes spectacular scenery and the out going Sherpa people of the Solukhumbu. The first part of the trek is not only a hand slog, but is also pretty spares in the breathtaking views department. This trek cuts across the valley and starts in Nepali speaking Hindu lowland ends in the Tibetan Buddhist highlands.

Everest Cultural Trekking Itinerary
Days 1:
Meet at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to hotel
Days 2:
Sight-seeing of Kathmandu: Full day’s sightseeing in Kathmandu valley includes the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath (2000 years old temple) and visit Patan city of fine arts. Return to the hotel.
Days 3:
Flight from KTM – Lukla. After having a 35 minuates scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla continue trek to Phakding, which takes approximately 3 hours on the way you will have a view of mt Nupla( 5885m) Kusum Kangaru (6367m) and mount kongde range. Overnight in Phakding (2,652m).
Days 4:
Phakding to Namche (3,440m)- Beginning with a slight climb to Jhorsalle, the trail passes a waterfall. All day, we pass villages interspersed with magnificent forest- rhododendron, magniolia trees and giant firs. And on the way to walking you will be rewarded (weather permitting) your first glimpse of Kusum Kanggru (6369m) Thamserku (6608m) Everest (8848m) and Nuptse (7879 m). A steep climb up to the beautiful village of Namche bazaar (3440m).
Days 5:
Acclimatization day in Namche. Acclimatization is most important before proceeding to a higher elevation. It is therefore recommended that you take a short days hike to Thame, Khunde or Khumjung or relax and explore the sherpa culture of Namche.
Days 6:
Namche Bazaar to Thame: An easy walking day with good view. Today you will work through many prayer flags, mani walls and carved stones. After decending to the Bhote koshi River the trail climbs seeply to Thame. You will have a good view of of Teng Kangpoche and Kwangde and to the north is the Nangpa La Thame Gompa is situated above the village. Mani Rimdu festival is celebrated here in the spring. Overnight in Thame (3800m).
Days 7:
Thame to Khumjung: From Thame we come to Khumjung which is about five hours working slowly. We stop at Kumjung where there is a school built by Hillary trust. The views of Amadablam, Thamserku and Tawache are really breathtaking from Khumjung. Overnight in Khumjung at (3790m).
Days 8:
Khumjung To Tengboche: The trail goes gently down to the Sanasa, from here you will have a good view of Mt Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse , Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. After having a lunch in Phungi thanga the trail steeply goes to Tengboche which is famous for its legendary monastery, the largest in the Khumbu region.
Days 9:
Tengboche to Monjo: Working down to Phungi thanga from here trail climbs again to sanasa. You will have a lunch at Namche Bazaar, After lunch continue trek down to Monjo.
Days 10:
Monjo to Lukla, Last day of the trek in a bustling town enjoy dinner with your Trekking crew
Days 11:
Flight from Lukla - KTM, transfer to hotel
Days 12:
Kathmandu free day, evening culture show with nepali dinner, hotel
Days 13:
Final departure, transfer to airport

The total cost for the trek or tour you decide you want to do will depend on several different factors. The type of accommodation you prefer in Kathmandu and/or Pokhara will make a difference to the overall cost (budget to 5 star accommodation) The mode of transport you prefer will also affect the cost of your package, for example prices vary greatly between flying versus private car/van, tourist or local buses. The number of guides and/or porters required will also affect the total cost of your trek. For these reasons the same trek/tour can vary in price quite substantially.
