Tibet to open up further for overseas tourists this year

Tibet, which is experiencing a tourist boom, will open up further to the outside world and attract more visitors from aboard this summer, state-run China Daily quoted Padma Choling, chairman of the Tibet region legislature as saying.

In 2010, the central government proposed making the region a major global tourism destination, and from January to November last year, it received more than 190,000 overseas tourists, the local tourism bureau said. Continue reading

Tourists’ inflow rise in Myagdi

The number of tourist inflow to visit the Khopra Lake in northern belt of Myagdi district is on the rise, reports RSS.

The Lake has become priority of foreign tourists as the site is replete with panoramic beauty, natural peace and warm hospitality accorded to guests with the exhibition of indigenous Magar culture. One can reach the Lake located in an altitude of 3,500 meters from sea level via the route of Falate-Maharedanda-Khiwang-Narchyad and Paudwar under Annapurna trekking route.

The influx of tourists to the trekking route has invariably increased this year, said secretary of Annapurna-Dhaulagiri trekking route management committee, Chitra Pun.

All flights to and from Pokhara obstructed demanding int’l airport

Air services to and from Pokhara airport on Thursday have been obstructed on call of a pressure group from the city comprising representatives from various sectors as part of the campaign to pile pressure on the government to begin work on the regional international airport in Pokhara soon.

As per the previously announced plan, the Pokhara International Airport Concern Committee together with Nepal Association of Tours and Travel Agents (Kaski district chapter) forcibly closed down air services to and from the scenic lake city popular among tourists visiting the country.
