Bardia National Park

Bardia National ParkThe Bardia National Park is the largest and most undisturbed protected area in the Tarai and is home to the endangered Royal Bengal tiger and Nepal’s famous one-horned rhinoceros. The national park located in the far western district of Bardia, is bordered by river Karnali in the west, the churia range in the north, while the river Babai flows right through the park.

The varied geographical factors together with the thick cover of Sal, savannah forests and grasslands renders this region ideal as wild animal habitat. The park hosts different mammals, more then 250 species of birds, and several varieties of reptiles and water animals. Some of the other animals found here are elephant, swamp deer, blackbuck, gharial, crocodile and marsh mugger crocodile share the water with gangatic dolphins, as well as several other special of reptiles, amphibians, insects and butterflies, Creatures you only dream of !!!

Activities in Bardia National Park

1) Crocodile Breeding Center :

A Fascinating visit to the crocodile Breeding Center .

2) Jeep Drive:

You can have the unique experience of driving jeep in to the jungle. We will take you across the river in to the jungle in four wheels drive vehicles. The slow growl of open jeeps, the sights and sounds of real animals in the wild can be an unforgettable experience with your holidays.

3) Karnali River Rafting:

An early morning 30 km drive by jeep will drop you by the Karnali River . This is followed by a serene all day raft down the gentle Karnali. The rafting journey allows you to spot much wildlife, especially the endangered freshwater Gangetic Dolphin, the Gharial Crocodile, exotic birds and big game on the nearby river banks. Swimming is also possible and sometimes even the dolphins may join you! Some stretches of white water can be included for the more adventurous

4) Tharu Village Tour:

The jungle scenery, birds and animals alone do not make up the unique features of Bardia National Park . This tour provides you a window in to local Tharu life.Our professional guide/expert naturalist will accompany you through the area and help you gather insights into the Tharu way of life.

5) Elephant Safari:

An excellent opportunity to see Asian Elephant, Great One Horned Rhinoceros, Spotted Deer or Chital, Hog Deer, Barking Deer, Samber, Swamp Deer or Barasinghe, Nilgai or Blue Bull, Black Buck, Wild Boar, Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Wild Dog, Golden Jackal, Striped Hyena. You will also encounter many other smaller mammals that have made Bardia National Park their home.

 

6) Jungle/Nature Walk:

you can enjoy a natural walk in the jungle in safety accompanied by our well trained naturalist. A highlight of this trip will be the viewing from the watch towers (Machhan) to have the wild sightseeing, accompanied by our experienced naturalist and wildlife trackers. Excellent photographic opportunities are plentiful.

 

 

 

7) Cultural Programme:

A cultural program performed by the Tharus will be another highlight of your visit to the Bardia. The Tharus in colorful traditional costumes, unique in their disparity with the common mode of dress all over Nepal , are sure to captivate you.

Elephant Ride:

Few people trek around the Kathmandu valley. Yet it offers a rich insight in to the lives, history, culture and religion together with the picturesque daily toil in the fields of its inhabitant. Jungle Walking

Jungle Walk:

you can enjoy a natural walk in the jungle in safety accompanied by our well trained naturalist who will interrupt the hidden secrets of the land as you walk through ancient groves or perch in a strategically located watch tower (Machan) to observe animals grazing, drinking at pools, or resting in the bushes.

 

Jungle Drive:

You can have the unique experience of driving jeep in to the jungle. We will take you across the river in to the jungle in four wheels drive vehicles. This way we can go deeper into the jungle and have more frequent sightings of the parks unique animals.
Canoeing: A typical hand-made dugout canoe will take you a ride on the great Rapti river where you can see gharials and crocodiles basking in the sun and enjoy watching many colorful birds.
Village Visit: For the villages walk you will be accompanied by an expert naturalist who knows the area well. This way you will gain insight the indigenous Tharus, the ancient native people of the Chitwan jungle.

Tharu Cultural Program

Cultural Program:

A cultural program performed by the Tharus will be as other highlight of your stay. After a delicious buffet dinner we entertain you with stick dances and folk songs and give you an opportunity to dance with the native people.

Elephant Bathing

Elephant Bath:

It is a unique experience to take a bath with an elephant in the Rapti River ! You might even find yourself taking a surprise shower from an elephant's trunk while you are riding on its back.
